Two-time heavyweight champion Joshua Released from Hospital in Lagos Following Deadly Car Crash

The British boxer Anthony Joshua has been discharged from hospital, officials in Lagos stated on Wednesday night. The fighter was caught in a vehicular crash in the Lagos area on December 29th, a devastating event that took the lives of two of his close associates.

Recovering from Minor Injuries

The boxer had been receiving medical attention while recuperating from non-critical injuries, his promoter confirmed on Monday. The commissioner for information and strategy, Gbenga Omotoso, said in a statement on social media that Joshua was deemed clinically fit to continue his recovery at home.

“Joshua and his mother were at the funeral home in Lagos this afternoon to say their last goodbyes to his two departed friends as they were being prepared for repatriation,” Omotosho said.

Remembering the Victims

The two men who died were confirmed to be Latif Ayodele, a fitness coach, and Sina Ghami, a conditioning specialist. Omotoso added that the champion was filled with sorrow and deeply emotional over the loss of his two close friends.”

The news of his discharge arrives after the boxing community had expressed condolences for the fighter in the wake of the heartbreaking incident.
