Top-ranked Aryna Sabalenka Secures Consecutive WTA Player of the Year Accolades.
World number one Aryna Sabalenka has been voted the Women's Tennis Association player of the year for a second successive year.
The twenty-seven-year-old won four tournament victories – the most on tour – including retaining the US Open in September against Amanda Anisimova to secure her fourth Grand Slam singles title.
A Season of Consistency
Over the course of the tour, Sabalenka competed in a circuit-leading nine championship matches, with defeats coming to Madison Keys in the Australian Open final at the start of the year and Coco Gauff in June's French Open final.
The Belarusian also triumphed at the Brisbane International in January, the Miami Open during the spring, and the Madrid Open in May. She spent the entire year as the top-ranked player, finishing 2025 on top of the rankings for a second straight year.
This past summer, she became the first player to top 12,000 WTA ranking points after Serena Williams in 2015.
Historic Numbers
Sabalenka ended the season with a 63-12 win-loss record, and collected a record eleven million pounds in tournament winnings.
She received nearly eighty percent of the votes submitted by international tennis media.
On 28 December, she is poised to compete against 2022 Wimbledon finalist Nick Kyrgios in a Battle of the Sexes-style exhibition match in a bid to "help bring women's tennis to a new level".
Additional WTA Award Winners
- Returning Star of the Year: Switzerland's Belinda Bencic, 28, received the award after taking 13-month break following the arrival of her first child and returning to the sport earlier this season.
- Rookie of the Year: Canadian teenager Victoria Mboko received the award after beginning the season positioned beyond the world's top 300 and soaring to the eighteenth spot.
- Partnership of the Year: Katerina Siniakova and Taylor Townsend were voted after winning their second Grand Slam title as a pair.
- Biggest Leap of the Year: Amanda Anisimova was named after reaching five championship matches.
Last week, Carlos Alcaraz took home three awards in the Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP) Awards, which included the season-ending top rank award, while Jannik Sinner was voted the fan favorite for a third consecutive time.
