Slot Maintains He Is Safe and Has The Club's Support Following PSV Eindhoven Loss

The Liverpool head coach acknowledged that it was natural for concerns to be raised about his position after another convincing loss against PSV Eindhoven.

Liverpool endured their ninth loss in 12 matches, marking the team's poorest run since being demoted in 1953-54.

They were dominated by the Eredivisie title holders on a difficult evening at Anfield.

“I feel secure, I'm fine, I've received a lot of backing from the top,” the coach commented.

“It would be nice to change things and earn three points of course but if you are working as a coach and underperforming then it is normal that questions are asked.”

He added, “I am OK with my situation. This isn't the first time I've found myself in a difficult position but it's necessary that we turned it around.”

Conversations with Liverpool Hierarchy

Upon being questioned to elaborate on his discussions with the team officials, Slot revealed:

“We communicate frequently. They assist to the team and to me and we discuss these matters but they don't phone me constantly of the day to say they back me.”

He mentioned, “In the normal conversations we have I feel the confidence. However I've not talked to them after this defeat yet so we'll see.”

Familiar Problems and Squad Reaction

The manager lamented known shortcomings from his team in their Champions League defeat, namely wasted chances and conceding too easily.

Meanwhile, midfielder Jones was more direct in his view of the current crisis.

“I don’t have the solutions. Frankly, I don’t. I’m saying that to everybody,” the midfielder said.

“It is unacceptable. I don’t even have to wait to think about it. I'm beyond being angry internally. I've reached the stage currently where I simply lack the phrases.”

He went on, “It's tough because I play for the team I support. I'm a supporter, and I've watched Liverpool since I was young.”

“In a long, long time, I've not seen a Reds side enduring a period of this nature with performances this poor.”

Jones stated, “But we still have the crest on our chest. And until it is taken away, we'll continue to fight.”

“We’re going to try to bring this squad back to where it needs to be, show everyone once more what this club is about and the reason it's called the top club in the planet.”

“But right now, we’re in the shit and we have to turn it around.”
