An individual of Australian nationality that leaped past a barrier and reached for actress Ariana Grande has been expelled and banned from Singapore.

Johnson Wen, 26, was given a sentence to over a week in detention for being a public nuisance and has now been "barred from re-entering Singapore," the country's border control told news outlets.

The man shoved beyond security and charged at the celebrity, who was present at the Asian premier for the musical adaptation on November 13. Fellow actress Cynthia Erivo intervened to remove him from Grande.

Wen has a history of disrupting concerts and star-studded occasions, including leaping onto the platform at a Katy Perry performance in Sydney in the past June.

The occurrence sparked outrage in Singapore, with numerous people saying he of re-traumatising Grande.

The pop star has mentioned experiencing PTSD after a terrorist bombing at her concert in the English city in May 2017 killed 22 individuals and affected hundreds.

In the legal process, the authorities learned he had tried to gain access on the red carpet event on two occasions, according to Singaporean media.

He then made a second attempt to breach security. Protection personnel prevented him and restrained him.

Wen later posted video clips thanking Grande for allowing his presence and said he was "at liberty."

Law enforcement arrested him the subsequent day and charged him with causing a disturbance, to which Wen pleaded guilty.

The Presiding Judge Christopher Goh was quoted by Channel News Asia as remarking that the man sought attention, noting that he was wrong to assume he would not experience repercussions.

The singer has not addressed the case.

Erivo spoke about the incident to a media outlet, saying that she "only aimed to make sure my co-star was protected."

"I'm sure he didn't intend us danger, but you cannot be certain with such situations, and I aimed to ensure that she was OK. That was my immediate response," she said.
