Over a fortnight subsequent to the heartbreaking passing of celebrated filmmaker Rob Reiner and his partner, photographer Michele Reiner, peers and loved ones are still paying respects to the couple.
A Heartfelt Farewell: Cary Elwes Pays Tribute to His Director
Sharing on social media, actor Cary Elwes, who rose to fame in Reiner's beloved 1987 film *The Princess Bride*, mentioned he just recently felt ready to share openly about his personal sorrow.
"Enough time has elapsed that I can now put my grief into words," posted Elwes, adding that his initial encounter with Reiner made him fall in love. "As we began spending more time together I knew this was someone I desired in my life."
The actor uploaded archival material from the production, commenting that he could not remember "one day without joy".
"This story is about love, loyalty and sacrifice. Things that Rob cherished deeply. That is part of the many reasons he was the ideal person to direct it," Elwes expressed.
He additionally honored Michele Reiner, stating: "Claiming that they were a great team would be an understatement. My heart still hurts every time I recall you." He ended with a quote from *The Princess Bride*: "Sure, death cannot stop true love but life is pain without you."
Martin Scorsese Remembers a Colleague and Comrade
In a distinct tribute, acclaimed director Martin Scorsese shared memories of Reiner, whom he first met in the 1970s.
"From the start, I loved being with Rob. We had a instant connection for each other. He was very funny and sometimes acutely humorous, but he was never the kind of guy who would take over the room," Scorsese wrote.
Scorsese pointed out Reiner's cameo appearance in his 2013 film *The Wolf of Wall Street*, playing the father of the protagonist.
"He could improvise with the best. He was a virtuoso at comedy, he worked seamlessly with everyone, and he grasped the emotional dilemma of his character," Scorsese wrote.
Court Proceedings: Autopsy Reports Restricted
In a new development, a Los Angeles court official ruled to bar the publication of the Reiners' medical examiner's reports, after an appeal from the Los Angeles Police Department.
A court order put a security hold on the cases to restrict the public release of "related notes, evidence and photographs" pertaining to the probe.
The Medical Examiner's office had previously confirmed their deaths were the outcome of foul play, with a official listing listing the cause as "wounds from an edged weapon".

Former President Donald Trump wrote on the matter, providing provocative claims that were widely condemned by many commentators.
Podcaster Joe Rogan lent his criticism to the critics last week. Talking on his show, Rogan described the statements as "disappointing" and suggested they demonstrated a troubling deficiency of sympathy.
Rogan ended by remarking that an associate could have acted when the choice to speak on the death was made.
