Former NFL QB Mark Sanchez Fighting for Life Following Stabbing Incident
Ex- NFL signal-caller and television network personality Mark Sanchez is hospitalized in critical state following a stabbing incident late Friday night within the city center of Indianapolis.
Law enforcement were dispatched just after 12 a.m. to a site in the vicinity of Washington and Senate streets where two people were injured, one of them now identified as Sanchez.
Officers with the Indianapolis metropolitan police department responded to what was described as a “commotion in a back alley” around 12:30 a.m. on Saturday. A stabbing victim was reported, and a second person received other injuries.
Sanchez was taken to a local medical center in critical condition, according to reports. The motive behind the incident is not yet clear. The suspect involved has been detained.
The 38-year-old Sanchez had traveled to Indianapolis before Sunday’s Colts v Raiders matchup at Lucas Oil stadium, a game he was slated to announce for the network. He joined Fox in 2021 as a commentator for NFL games and also contributes to FS1 studio programming.
Before his broadcasting career, Sanchez played 10 seasons in the NFL with several teams, including the New York Jets, Philadelphia Eagles and Dallas Cowboys. His retirement came in July 2019 then quickly moved into for ESPN’s coverage of college football prior to moving to Fox.
Away from football, Sanchez married his wife, Perry, in 2023. Together they have three kids.
