Cessation of Hostilities Begins Implementation as Israeli Forces Retreat from Sections of Palestinian Territory
Military Area
IDF units confirmed they have partially withdrawn military personnel from designated zones of Gaza after a ceasefire agreement negotiated by Israel and Palestinian faction took effect on Friday's dawn.
Military units confirmed they had withdrawn to an specified location within the region - though military personnel still control half of the Gaza Strip.
Initial Implementation of Ceasefire Agreement
The truce came into effect after the Israel's leadership endorsed the opening segment of US President Donald Trump's truce arrangement and captive release on the previous day.
According to the deal, the Gaza-based group has until midday local time on Monday to release all captive Israelis - including twenty who are believed to be alive, and up to 28 deceased captives' bodies.
Captive Release Terms
- Tel Aviv should also release about approximately 250 Palestinian prisoners serving life sentences in detention facilities
- Defense broadcasts said one hundred will be released into the occupied territories and a small number to East Jerusalem
- More prisoners are likely to be expelled to different areas
- A additional approximately 1,700 individuals from the territory who have been arrested should also be released
Humanitarian Aid Provisions
Under the terms, aid trucks should also be granted unimpeded entry into the territory to bring urgently required support to the territory's residents.
Around six hundred aid trucks are likely to reach Gaza daily from the truce implementation, though details of the rollout remain vague.
Severe food shortage was proclaimed in areas of the region for the initial instance in last August by international authorities.
Force Repositioning Details
Local sources in Gaza said military forces had retreated from the northwest perimeter of the main urban center towards the east.
In the southern region, some military personnel were also confirmed to have retreated from the Khan Younis region.
In a statement on online channels, the Israel Defense Forces stated its troops "began positioning themselves along the new defensive positions" from midday local time.
Population Welfare
As troops partially withdrew, many local inhabitants were recorded moving - numerous walking - up the territory's shoreline route to the northern region.
Many were making the journey by walking for approximately 20 kilometers bringing what they managed to keep on their persons.
Civilian Movement
Along the damaged narrow roads, some displayed national symbols and showed triumphant gestures.
"The path is arduous, supplies are scarce," commented Alaa Saleh, who escaped the urban center with his wife and six children to the southern area.
Next Phases
The Israeli leader Benjamin Netanyahu stated in a televised address he was "fulfilling" the commitment to return all the captives.
He further stated military forces were still "surrounding Hamas from every direction", noting the coming steps of Trump's plan are that "militants will give up arms and the region will have no military presence".
The conflict was triggered by the militant assaults on the country's south on the October 7 attacks, in which about 1,200 people were fatally wounded and two hundred fifty-one detained.
Ruined Buildings
Since then, approximately 67,000 individuals have been fatally injured, including over eighteen thousand minors.
International organizations have accused Israel of committing genocide against the territory's population during the duration of the war.
The Israeli government has categorically rejected the claims, describing it as "distorted and false".
